About the producer
The start

In the winter of 2016, the two Augsburgers, Enzo Frauenschuh and Matthias Gruber, founded Fraugruber Brewing (Frauenschuh + Gruber = Fraugruber) and brewed their first beers as Gipsy Brauer (Brasseur San) in spring 2017 in the Old Factory in Gundelfingen. Over the next 3 years, Ms. Gruber managed to export her beers in over 20 countries.

The path

It quickly became clear that all the ideas, experiences and subsequent developments were very difficult to achieve without its own brewery and the freedom associated with it. To develop quantitatively and conceptually, Ms. Gruber had to develop. We managed to realize our dream of our own brewery in January 2020. This is how we achieved our goal of creating a kind of "lifestyle" and building a community with which we can share the enthusiasm and passion for beer. It is for us to test and live the incredible variety of beers, to act in a lasting way and above all to give the beer a higher value.

The vision

For us, it is important to have the greatest possible influence on technology, as well as on the raw materials used. Regionity is an important subject for us, which is why we cultivate our own brewing barley of the Steffi and Marthe variety by 4 friends friends, then we make it malter by a neighboring Malterie.
While in 2019, there are still about 11 ha (approx. 60 tonnes) of cultivated surface, we could already reach them in 2020 at around 40ha (approx. 220 tonnes). We thus make sure not to have to work with new high performance varieties which are cultivated only for yield and resistance, but in which essential things for us (fullness, fermentation behavior, technological treatment, etc.) have passed in the background.

We also raise the 13 strains of yeast used in production in order to be able to control both the quality of the yeast and the amount of yeast cells themselves.

The varieties of international hops used in countries such as the United States, Australia, Tasmania, New Zealand and of course Bavaria, are available either directly from Houblon producers, or from our partners worldwide. Fortunately, we can trust them 100 %, because they know our quality requirements and also share them.
