🧑‍🌾 ABOUT THE PRODUCER

THE BEGINNING

In the winter of 2016, the two Augsburgers, Enzo Frauenschuh and Matthias Gruber, founded FrauGruber Brewing (FRAUenschuh + GRUBER = FrauGruber) and brewed their first beers as Gipsy Brauer (contract brewer) in spring 2017 in the Old Factory in Gundelfingen. Over the next 3 years, Ms. Gruber managed to sustainably export her beers to more than 20 countries.

THE PATH

It soon became clear that all ideas, experiments and further developments were very difficult to realize without your own brewery and the associated freedom. To grow quantitatively and conceptually, Ms. Gruber had to expand. We managed to realize our dream of our own brewery in January 2020. This is how we achieved our goal of creating a kind of "way of life" and building a community with whom we can share enthusiasm and passion for beer. For us it is about testing and experiencing the incredible variety of beers, acting sustainably and above all giving beer a higher value.

THE VISION

For us it is important to have as much influence as possible on the technology, as well as the raw materials used. Regionality is an important subject for us, which is why we have our own malting barley of the Steffi and Marthe variety grown by 4 friendly farmers, then we have it malted by a neighboring malt house.
While in 2019 there were still around 11 ha (approx. 60 tonnes) of cultivated area, we could already reach this in 2020 at around 40ha (approx. 220 tonnes). This way we ensure that we do not have to work with new high-performance varieties that are only grown for yield and resistance, but in which the essential things for us (fullness, fermentation behavior, technological processing, etc.) have taken a back seat.

We also breed all 13 yeast strains used in production so that we can control both the quality of the yeast and the quantity of the yeast cells themselves.

International hop varieties used in countries such as the USA, Australia, Tasmania, New Zealand and of course Bavaria, are available either directly from hop growers or from our partners worldwide. Fortunately, we can trust them 100%, because they know our quality requirements and share them equally.
