Perfectly tempered between 15 and 18°C, this organic, alcohol-free red wine goes wonderfully with delicate cod, tasty ossobuco or a fine leek soup.

Taste profile
The light Domaine de La Prade Merlot Shiraz from Oddbird shines in the glass in a brilliant crimson red. The nose of this red wine from Languedoc-Roussillon attracts attention with aromas of morello cherry, plum and blackberry. If we continue the aromatic research, caramel is added.

This French wine delights with its dry and elegant taste. It was bottled with 36 grams of residual sugar. This is a real quality wine which clearly distinguishes itself from simpler qualities and this is how this French wine naturally enchants, despite all its dryness, with a very subtle balance. The flavoring doesn't necessarily need sugar. The Domaine de La Prade Merlot Shiraz can rightly be described as exceptionally fruity and velvety, as it has been vinified with a wonderfully suave taste profile. On the palate, the texture of this light red wine is wonderfully dense. On the finish, this red wine from the wine-growing region of Languedoc-Roussillon delights with its good length. There are notes of morello cherry and plum. At the end of the palate, mineral notes from soils dominated by limestone are added.

The elegant Domaine de La Prade Merlot Shiraz from France is a cuvée, vinified organically from the Merlot and Shiraz grape varieties. The grapes grow in optimal conditions in Languedoc-Roussillon. The vines plunge their roots deep into limestone soils. After the harvest, the grapes are transported as quickly as possible to the press. They are sorted there and delicately crushed. Then comes fermentation in stainless steel vats at controlled temperature. Once fermentation is complete, Domaine de La Prade Merlot Shiraz can continue to harmonize for 12 months on the fine lees. Once the wine is finished, the Domaine de La Prade Merlot Shiraz is delicately de-alcoholized.

Founded in 2013 by Moa Gürbüzer, Oddbird is a testament to my dedication and vision. With over twenty years of experience as a family therapist and social worker, I have primarily addressed alcohol-related family issues. The pervasive and recurring nature of these issues had a profound impact on me, highlighting the profound negative influence of alcohol on society. Recognizing the urgent need for transformational change, I launched Oddbird. My mission? Challenge and reshape society's alcohol norms by introducing premium non-alcoholic beverages. I imagined a world where I asked myself, “Do you want your wine with or without alcohol?” » would be as routine as asking: “Do you prefer your coffee with or without milk?” » Today we reign as Scandinavia's leading producer of wine, beer and spirits, all alcohol-free.

Overcoming Initial Challenges

Starting a business in a male-dominated industry without prior winemaking experience presented many challenges. We had to learn branding, sales, liquid development, packaging and finance from scratch. Financial support was also hard to come by, with banks refusing loans. Not an uncommon problem when it comes to women-run businesses, it's still difficult to get financing. I'm very proud of where Oddbird has come over these 11 years and how we, against many expectations, have been able to establish ourselves worldwide.

Oddbird's success lies in its commitment to quality. The company collaborates with winegrowers who respect tradition and nature. The wines are matured for up to 12 months, then gently released from alcohol using a unique method that preserves the wine's natural flavors and aromas. This meticulous process ensures that the final product is not just an alternative to alcoholic wines, but a premium beverage in its own right. Our mission was not just to create a company, but to initiate a social movement. We sought to change the culture of drinking, making non-alcoholic options mainstream. To give a few examples, Oddbird was the first in the world to produce natural alcohol-free wine with grapes from the most beautiful vineyards in Alsace. Another unique product for Oddbird is our Spumante, made with exactly the same technique used when making prosecco. Not forgetting our red wines, where we've come a long way to crack the code for non-alcoholic red wines. For fall 2024, we were launching new products in new categories for Oddbird. Which means we are always busy exploring and innovating the alcohol-free section.
