🔍 TO KNOW EVERYTHING…

The Big Drop Reef Point Craft Lager 0.5% alcohol free is a malty, balanced lager, gluten free and low sugar which is entering the alcohol-free beer space with the world's first brewery dedicated to alcohol-free beers, Big Drop Brewing Co.

A prominent, golden ray of sunshine, this malt-based beer offers a sweet, honeyed aroma and a strong malt backbone, balanced by a gentle bitterness from the traditional noble hops and a delicate wave of citrus from the addition of new hops.

This product was commended at the inaugural World Alcohol Free Awards 2023 ceremony, which received much applause. These awards are unique in that they only recognize products below 0.5% and judges come from all over the world, including writers and influencers, supermarket and airline buyers, bar/restaurant owners… The awards are awarded blind and are therefore based solely on the taste and quality of the products.

ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

How to have fun?
At what temperature should you drink non-alcoholic beer?

Good non-alcoholic beer is never enjoyed too cold.
We avoid serving it iced for example because the palate will be numbed by the cold and you will not perceive any delicate aromas or flavors.
If your non-alcoholic beer comes out of the fridge, wait 5 to 10 minutes before tasting it so that the non-alcoholic beer can warm up slightly.

Choosing the ideal temperature depends on your location and the season, but we can recommend the following tasting temperatures, never below 5°C:

Light non-alcoholic beer: 5°C, including light and summer beer, flavored beer, wheat beer, etc.

Artisanal non-alcoholic beer: 8°C, this temperature is suitable for most so-called artisanal or craft beers.

Savvy tasters will enjoy tasting their non-alcoholic beer at different temperatures to compare and decide on the temperature.

Which non-alcoholic beer glass should you choose to serve?

There are many shapes of non-alcoholic beer glasses.
Mugs, stemmed glasses, flutes, straight pint glasses, chalices...
Each brewer offers glasses to match their creation, in addition to what you find in stores or at Sanzalc.

We recommend using a glass with a stem or handle like a mug so that the non-alcoholic beer does not overheat when it comes into contact with your hand holding the glass.
Try different glasses to see if you feel the same with the same non-alcoholic beer, the release of aroma upon contact with the mouth varies a lot between narrow glasses and wide glasses.

Taste profile

You will love it if…
Whether you want to exceed the DLUO (Optimal Use By Date) or not, it is necessary to store your alcohol-free beers in good conditions to preserve or develop their aromas and flavors.

Non-alcoholic beer is sensitive to light and heat.

Also, there are 3 basic rules to respect:

Do not expose non-alcoholic beers to light, as this directly impacts the hops present in the drink, degrading them.

Since hops have preservative properties, their alteration will cause non-alcoholic beer to keep for a shorter period of time.

It can also develop unpleasant tastes.

Maintain non-alcoholic beer at a constant temperature, ideally between 10 and 15 degrees, in a cellar, like wine.

Too cold a temperature will alter the aromas.

Conversely, a temperature that is too hot will cause them to develop too quickly.

Hold non-alcoholic beer vertically to reduce risks by avoiding contact between the liquid and the cap.

This allows the yeast to settle quietly at the bottom of the bottle.

In a nutshell, non-alcoholic beer does not have a shelf life but only an optimal or minimum shelf life.

Therefore, the DLUO can easily exceed several weeks/months without being as long as bad.

And in any case, you must remember that this will not pose a health hazard.

Allergy Information
Gluten-free explained
Gluten is a protein compound most commonly found in wheat, barley, rye and oat grains. Wheat and barley are often key ingredients in the production of beverages such as beer and in the sealing of wine barrels. Gluten-free drinks avoid using these products. To be labeled gluten-free, the product must contain less than 20 parts per million of gluten, which corresponds to a trace amount of barley!

How is this product compatible with the vegan lifestyle?
The drink is free of any animal products or derivatives. Additionally, the bottle, label and glue are also free from animal products.

How is this product low in sugar and what about the carbohydrates?
According to government guidelines, low sugar means the drink contains less than 2.5g of sugar per 100ml. High sugar products cause an insulin spike and we respond by storing more carbohydrates as fat. These are usually more complex forms of sugar, such as starches and fiber, which the body uses for energy.

🧑‍🌾 ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Big Drop was launched in October 2016 by Rob Fink, then a city attorney, and James Kindred, a designer and entrepreneur, who was his school friend and bandmate.

The idea for a brewing company that only makes non-alcoholic beers was driven by their own lifestyle changes (e.g. fatherhood) and the frustration of not finding good non-alcoholic beer options.

Along with famed experimental brewer Johnny Clayton (formerly of Wild Beer Co), they perfected the techniques of making alcohol-free craft beer, without the need to artificially remove the alcohol. The result does not compromise taste and does not exceed 0.5% alcohol.

Big Drop doesn't just use barley. It uses barley, rye, wheat and oats to achieve exceptional flavor and aroma. And she doesn't use just one type of barley. It uses more than 20 special grains for all of its beers. Its wide range of beers includes Stout, Lager, Pale Ale, IPA, Brown Ale, Golden Ale, Winter Ale and a Sour. So there is something for everyone.
